Policy & political work
We fund local and statewide animal-protection policy efforts — ballot campaigns, legislative work, and the political infrastructure that makes durable wins possible. Our priority is U.S. work that builds power and momentum from the ground up, not national strategies alone.
What we fund
- Concrete, defined issue campaigns (bans, restrictions, protections) with a credible path to victory.
- Local and state-level policy work with strong organizing capacity on the ground.
- Political infrastructure — voter contact, electoral coalitions, durable advocacy organizations.
- Ballot initiatives where they are the right tool for a winnable issue.
What we look for
- Strategic clarity on the political opposition, the coalition, and what victory looks like.
- Willingness to coordinate with other organizations working on the same problem.
- A focus on building durable power, not just one-off campaigns.
- Track record (or credible plan) for executing on the work proposed.
Current focus
Our near-term focus includes foie gras bans and restrictions at the local level. We are also doing structured research into the next set of policy targets that meet our criteria.
